The second game was almost a carbon copy of the first, except the Buffs jumped out to a 2-0 lead to end the first. Colorado State then scored a powerplay goal to cut the lead to 1, but then the Buffs erupted for 3 goals in the second and then 4 goals in the third. Colorado won the game 9-2, starting the season 2-0.
