In the first game, CU dominated the pace of play, but 6 penalties put the Buffs shorthanded for a third of the game. James Reynolds and James Gallmeister combined for 12 total points as the Buffs won 9-7.
The second game proved to be a brief contest for the Buffs. They were up 5-1 midway through the second period when an injury to the Pioneers' goaltender and a subsequent major penalty left DU unable to finish the game. As a result, they had to forfeit the game.
CU is off to their best start in team history and are in prime position to earn their first nationals birth since 2014. They will be off until January, as the next scheduled event is 1/26/19 on the campus of Kansas State University. Go Buffs!
