The Buffs will face the University of Denver this Saturday evening for the chance to earn an automatic bid to Nationals, which will take place April 5-9 in Fort Myers, Florida. CU is 1-5 against Denver this year, with two of the contests being decided by at least two goals. Despite the outcome of Saturday's best-of-three series, both teams may be eligible for Nationals due to strength of schedule. However, these two division rivals will definitely make this contest one to remember.

The Buffs played a slate of 5 games on the campus of Kansas State University. Despite being without their 3 of their top 4 defensemen, the Buffs made the necessary adjustments. As a result, the 7-man Buffs skated three defensemen and 4 forwards. Freshman James Gallmeister, Sophomore Haydn Vance and Sophomore Daniil Lukoyanov provided the defensive spark over the past weekend. Forwards Jared Perskin, Steven Hoernicke, Jordy Ades and Sam Tari helped with the offensive production.
Buffs lost their first game 9-1 against #4 Kansas State, but they rebounded in the next two games to beat Central Missouri 8-7 and Maryville University 12-5. They then took on #9 (D1) Bethel, holding the Wildcats to only a 4-1 lead midway through the second. Wildcats then came on strong and won 10-1. CU then faced a tough Lindenwood Black team, dropping the contest 5-2. The Buffs finish the year 6-11 overall in the regular season, with a 6-9 record within Division 2. All losses were against Top 20-ranked teams. The Buffs return to Colorado to play the regional final against the University of Denver on Saturday, March 4th. The Colorado Buffaloes dropped both contests last Saturday to the University of Denver at RMR. Scores were 6-3 and 10-4 in games that were competitive until late in the third period. With Austin Carroll missing significant time due to three broken bones in his hand, the Buffs' defensive depth will be tested for the rest the year.
CU look to improve on their 4-8 record by playing a jam-packed 5-game weekend at the home of Kansas State, located in Manhattan, Kansas. The Buffs will face Kansas State, Central Missouri, Lindenwood Black, Maryville University and Division 1 powerhouse Bethel over the course of two days. The Buffs went 1-3 last weekend, splitting two games against Division 1 Texas Tech (6-9 L and 11-8 W) and dropping two games to Denver (1-8 L and 3-5 L). Buffs enter next weekend 4-6 looking to get some key wins before their trip to Manhattan, Kansas. Games will be at 12pm and 1pm against the University of Denver at RMR in Lakewood.
