Your Colorado Buffaloes (0-2) look to even up their record this weekend when they play the newly founded University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (0-2), and University of Northern Colorado-B (1-1). UNC-B will look to be a easier game for the Buffs, with Colorado coming off of a very encouraging rebound performance against Division 2 powerhouse Colorado School of Mines. UCCS will be the challenge of the weekend, as the newly founded Mountain Lions came off of a great weekend by losing close games against Mines and Colorado State, despite great efforts in both games. The Buffs will look to stop Ryan Pedersen and Zach Blake, who have 7 goals in between them in the first two games. The first game against UNC-B will be at 4 p.m, while the second game against UCCS will be at 7 p.m. Come out to RMR in Lakewood and support your Buffs!!

The second game Saturday evening showed a great effort from Colorado against a School of Mines team that beat the Division 1 teams of Colorado State and Metro State. The Buffs took this challenge head on. After being down 2-0 early in the first, Adam Steinberg and Colin Luben scored 58 seconds apart to tie the game at two. However, Mines scored with 1:50 remaining in the first, and then scored 3 goals in the second period. Jake Sundling pulled one back on the powerplay in the third, and the Buffs came up short, losing 6-3. Daniel Clark and Corey Meighan had two goals each for Mines. Meanwhile, Adam Steinberg had two points for Colorado and the Buffs got a solid performance from goaltender John Fritts, who made 29 saves in the loss.
This Saturday afternoon, the Buffs began their 2010-2011 regular season campaign against Metro State's B team. The Buffs beat Metro comfortably in the past, but this year's Metro B squad is the best squad the Roadrunners have fielded in years. The Buffs were down 2-0 early into the first period, but they came back strong to take the lead midway through the second. Will Pennstrom tied the game 40 seconds later, and the period ended with the game tied at 3. However, Metro State turned it up in the third, and the Roadrunners took the game 6-4. Sean Deherrera scored a hat-trick for Metro State, and Kyle Smith had 34 saves for the Buffs in the loss.
Your Colorado Buffaloes will open regular season play Saturday afternoon against Metro State-B, followed by Colorado School of Mines later on. The Buffs have been working hard and will look to show their abilities against two challenging teams. Metro State's B has given the Buffs problems early on in games, but the Buffs seem to win by a very comfortable margin in the end. Mines will be the Buffs' toughest opponent this weekend, coming off winning the preseason tournament in Lakewood a couple of weekends ago. The Buffs will look to contain a high scoring offense lead by Craig Crow and Chris Rea. Puck drop for the Metro State game is set for 1 p.m, and the game against Mines is scheduled for 5 p.m. Come out to Bladium in Denver and support your Buffs!
