The B team, lead by Captain Joseph Oria and Alternate Captain Scott Barrow, had a different path to Nationals. They were knocked out of the semi-finals in the B division preseason tournament by losing to Colorado State B 1-0. The Buffs ended up finishing the regular season with 12 wins, three losses, and 1 tie. Their most impressive win occurred in Fort Collins where the beat the first-place Colorado State Rams 6-1 to take over first place in the Rocky Mountain B Division. The regular season was the first time Colorado State has not had the best record since 2004. In the playoffs, the Buffs dominated University of Colorado at Colorado Springs B 8-0 to go to the finals against Metro State B. The Buffs took the game 4-2 to be Regional Champions and earn an automatic bid to Nationals in Utah. At Nationals, the Buffs went 3-0 in their pool, with victories over Metro State, North Texas, and Grand Valley State. They moved on to the knockout stage, where they started off with an impressive come from behind win to beat Cal Poly 5-4 in overtime. The Buffs then shocked Michigan State in the quarterfinals, who were previously undefeated and ranked #1 in the nation. Unfortunately, the dream run came to an end against West Chester University in the semifinals.
A team finished 5th in the tournament, and B team finished in 3rd place. B team went farther in the tournament than any roller hockey team in CU history. This season put CU Roller Hockey in the national spotlight. Thanks to seniors Evan Meredith and Nick Ramsey for their commitment to the team for their entire time at CU. Go Buffs!
