The B team had two very impressive games. The first game against Arapahoe Community College. Newcomer Elliot Berger netted a hat-trick in his first game, and Scott Barrow had a goal and four assists to lead the Buffs to a 10-4 win. The second game against UCCS B was more interesting. After goaltender Zach Henderson had to leave with an injury, UCCS agreed to let the Buffs use their backup goaltender until CU A team goaltender Kyle Smith could suit up. The goaltender filled in well, and Kyle entered the game with the Buffs up 4-3 with 3:17 played in the second. The Buffs did not look back and they blew out the Mountain Lions 12-5. Elliot Berger had four goals, Chase Arnold had three goals, and Joseph Oria had two goals in the win. Colorado is two points behind CSU B going into their match-up next Sunday afternoon in Fort Collins.
LAKEWOOD, CO- Your Colorado Buffaloes went a combined 5-0 over the weekend! First off, the A team played their first game of the day in an exhibition match-up with University of Arizona, which had the intensity of a PAC-12 match-up (even though the PAC-12 does not include roller hockey). Zach Clawson scored with 4:34 remaining in the game to tie it up at three, then Zach Raub scored the game winner with 36 seconds remaining to give the Buffs the 4-3 win. The second game against Front Range CC didn't start off well for the Buffs, but after being tied 2-2, Colorado scored five straight goals to take the game 7-2. In their final game against Metro State A, the Buffs were tied 1-1 with the Roadrunners after two periods of play. Colorado then scored three goals in two minutes to jump out to a 4-1 lead midway through the third period. Metro State pulled one back, but Colin Luben sealed the game with an empty net goal to seal the win. The Buffs keep their lead in Division 2 after the weekend.
