DENVER, CO- Your Colorado Buffaloes started off the weekend with a fantastic win against School of Mines this past weekend.  The Buffs jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the second period with a shorthanded goal by Zach Clawson.  Zach also scored two minutes into the second period to double Colorado's lead.  Chris Rea then scored a great goal to pull one back for Mines.  The Buffs then scored three times in the third period, and Mines scored a mere consolation goal and the Buffs pulled off the win 5-2.  Colin Luben had a goal and an assist, and Kyle Smith was solid in net, making 21 saves in the win.

Colorado took their confidence into a tough game against UNC Saturday evening.  Even though the Buffs put up a great effort, the Bears came back from 2-1 down to take the game 3-2.  UNC survived an onslaught from the Buffs, including a powerplay in the last minute in the game. Colorado (6-10) will face UNC this Friday night at RMR in Lakewood to kick off the Regional Playoffs.

Notes:  The win against School of Mines was Colorado's first win in more than two years.  Mines won the previous 4 and tied 1 (4-0-1) since 2008.  The UNC game was a very physical game, with an altercation involving Colin Luben and a UNC player at the end of the game.
