Like the last meeting between CU and Metro State-Denver, the first period was very close. Ryan Donahue scored the only goal for Metro in the first period, and it looked like this was going to be a very difficult game for Metro. However, they broke out in the second period, scoring 5 goals in the second period. After being down 6-0, the Buffs fought back with a great effort in the third. They outshot the Roadrunners in the third 9-8, and Nick Ramsey scored the period's only goal at the 2:52 mark. Max Gluck made 26 saves in a losing effort

However, CSU came back strong, and the score was 4-1 . Evan Meredith had the lone goal for the Buffs in the 3rd and Max Gluck made 31 saves in a losing effort.
The second game against Metro State proved to be as difficult as the Buffs anticipated. End-to-end action was the norm in this game. Tommy Derian had 3 points in the game, while David Torrez and Cody Lemon had two goals each for the Roadrunners. Max Gluck had 31 saves in a losing effort.
